It was a week ago when I found out about the strings group on campus. The guy in charge of the group asked if I wanted to join and told me to come to the next meeting. I was really excited and went home to tune up my cello and see how rusty I was. I pulled out my cello, tuned it up and started playing some scales. Not too bad. I find some music and run through a couple of songs. I was pretty happy with how I'd done considered I'd only had to stop two or three times to let my hand un-cramp ;)
However, as I picked up the bow to continue playing, I heard a pop. Now there are various 'pops' than can happen with a cello. Sometimes the bridge will shift, or sometimes a string will break. But this one was different and I had no idea whether it even came from the cello. I did a very careful inspection of the whole thing, checking the bridge and strings, I checked the sound post inside the cello too, just in case. Finding nothing, I put the cello down on my lap and looked around my room to see if there was anything that could have made that noise. While doing this my right hand rested on the base of the cello and that's when I found out where the mysterious pop came from. The bottom of the back panel popped away from the siding. I don't know why or how this happened but Dad got me in contact with some guys who can repair it. I mean, don't most instruments last for like a hundred years, and just get better and better?
Anyways, some good news is that I got a new laptop bag and it's AWESOME. It was only $30 at Target and it not only holds my laptop but also anything else I could possibly want to carry around :)
As for summer school, there's only two weeks left and I'm ready to be finished. I've started final projects for both I/O Psychology and for painting so I've got a busy week ahead of me.
Vivienne comes up this weekend and then Nate's going to visit the 7th or something. It'll be good to have visitors to celebrate the end of summer school and Ivan's 21st birthday. Ivan's throwing a 1990's party...so I'll be posting pictures of that, it should be pretty fantastic.
well that's all I've got.
